Adella loves to take a bath!

Adella is finally taking a real bath. She liked it right away. I guess the warm water is soothing. She is taking to a feeding/sleeping schedule for the most part. I have to pull a few tricks however, such as giving her a bath to prolong her wake/play time in the late evening. I would love to see her sleep less in the afternoon and more through the night but I guess this will come with time.

We are adjusting to life well. I have always respected motherhood but I have a new found respect for it now! Being a mom really does mean being a jack of all trades. (I am sure that I will continue to realize this and comment on this theme for many months to come.) I am getting used to not sleeping more than 2 hours at a time and to only speaking with an infant and dog all day long. Both are adorable and great listeners however, neither of which are good conversationalists! (I have never liked the sound of my own voice but I am really sick of it now!) I have also realized that I don't know ALL of the words to any songs! I start to sing a song to Adella to calm her or while I am changing her and inevitably it ends with me humming or trailing off because I can't remember how the rest of the song goes. (even my favorite ones!) I guess I will have to work on that or just spare her and stop all together.

2 weeks have come and gone so quickly! Life is starting to get back to "normal" (what ever that is!) We are feeling good and trying to get out of the house every day. I don't know how mothers with more than one child do it. I have a new respect for my mother. I don't know how she got all six of us out of the house and to church on time every Sunday. I couldn't even get me and Adella to a Dr's appointment on time this morning! Babies require so much extra stuff! Not to mention that I had to change her clothing twice do to a spit up incident. Adella is feeding and sleeping regularly. We are working on getting her on a schedule so that she will sleep through the night. Right now she likes to sleep in the late afternoon and play in the early morning! The pediatrician reports that she is healthy and growing. She weighs 7lbs 10 oz as of today.

She's Here!!!

All packed and headed for the door

She started as a screamer ...

But after some quality time with mom and dad she settled down.

Adella May Jessee
born September 14, 2007
18 inches 7 lbs 1 oz.

Adella was born at 8:47am on Friday 14, 2007. The anticipation was horrible, the surgery was scary, but once we had her in our arms it was the most terrific day of our lives. We spent 4 days in the hospital. I had my own room so Ethan got to stay with me. He was a great help. Adella is strong and healthy. She picked up on feeding quickly. She has been very quiet and peaceful except for a couple of occasions but so far so good. We are happy to be home and start our life as a family.

Camping August 2007

For Paul's birthday we went camping with Paul and Brandy at Monguap Pond Camp grounds.

It is in the southwest corner of the Catskill Park.

Ethan and Paul went fishing and Ethan caught 4 fish! He was using a "survival" fishing pole that he made himself out of fishing line and a small stick.

July

We went to SLC for Travis and Inger's wedding in July. We are so excited for them! It was nice for Ethan to get a way for a few days and it was nice to see the Murdock side of the family. We of course spent plenty of time in the Uintas walking around and enjoying some of our favorite spots. Unfortunately we didn't have a camera then. So no pics from those adventures!

Last weekend my visiting teachers gave my a babyshower. Almost all of Ethan's family was able to come. Most of them drove more than 2 hours to get here. They are so supportive! My friends from work gave me a shower before the end of the school year. Trust me this baby will not be going without!:)
I am overwhelmed by the generocity and support from family, work and church friends. We have be well taken care of here in our new home in NY.
