Merry Christmas!!

I really did make an effort to take cute pictures of Adella for our Christmas card/blog but she wasn't having it. She was much more interested in eating the decorations off of the Christmas tree. Having said that....

These pictures are mostly for Jennah. Yesterday she told me that I should just give Adella spoon and let her loose. So I did.



Yes that is spaghetti on Mason's back. It is no wonder why he loves Adella so much.

As for an update..... Thanksgiving was really nice. Ethan worked a 1/2 day. When he got home we got bundled up and walked to the park to swing on the swings. Then we spent most of the rest of afternoon eating and watching movies. All in all a great day.

Upstate in the fall

We took a nice family hike on Saturday to get some exercise and to check out the leaves. It was such a nice day. Cold but nice. There are definitely some great things about living in the east and the fall is one of them. I am always amazed at the colors that nature creates.

Adella's 1st Birthday!!

I can't believe that my little lady is 1 year old! Time really does go by quickly. I am amazed when I think that Adella was once the little squishy baby that we brought home just a short year ago. I am thankful that I have been trusted to care for such a sweet little girl. She has made my life so happy.
We kept the b-day celebration pretty simple this year considering that she won't remember it. We had birthday cake ...






and opened presents...
I wasn't sure she would really understand the idea of tearing open the paper but she got the hang of it.

Mason enjoying a snack

As all mothers know, it is difficult to catch a shower when you have small children.  I find myself always having to think up new ways to entertain Adella while making sure that she is safe.  Sticking her in the crib or pack and play do not work for her.  So today I decided to put her in her "bouncer-ciser" out side of the bathroom door (bathroom too small for her to be inside) with a heafty dose of cheerios to keep her happy so that I could what should be every person's daily right... take a shower.

As I stepped out of the shower I saw this...  

I don't know how long Mason had been there but one thing is for sure... he too had had a healthy snack while I was taking my shower.

Adella has ONE TOOTH

I figured that I better get this picture posted before any more come.  This week has been a tough one.  Sleepless nights and fever filled days... And as a result .... two more teeth are on their way.  I will post pictures as soon as I can get a good view of them.

Poor Masey Boy!! Adella loves him so much and just wants to play with him. For the most part he is game but even Mason has his limits.

Tuesdays at the Park

Our lives are pretty boring day to day.  This probably explains my lack of blogs (that and I am lazy).  HOWEVER on Tuesdays we go to the park which is turning out to be a good thing for both of us.   As a side note Ethan went to NYC today with Graham and Tyler to watch a baseball game so Adella decided to show her support from home.

9 months!!!!

We are now at the point where the entire house has to be baby proof!  Not only is Adella crawling but she is into everything.  If you don't hear her crawling around or laughing at the toy she was playing with when you  left her, you better check up on her.  I find her in the funniest places.  Besides crawling, she is climbing, waving hello and eating everything off of the floor that she can find.  

I know it has been a while.  I guess May just flew by.  Adella took her first airplane trip (see picture above) and met her Murdock aunts and uncles.  It was so fun and nice to see the family. Adella started crawling while we were away.  I was so excited to see her do something new but that quickly changed as I realized that I can no longer turn my back on her.  I took my ability to leave the room or place her on the bed without worry for granted.  She is into everything.  She is so curious.  (especially about things that I don't want her to have)  It is fun to see her discover the world around her.

Music to a Mother's Ears

I can't begin to estimate how many times Ethan and I have tried to get Adella's laughter on video. Not that we don't want it to be authentic but it does take one person playing with her and one with the camera. AND she is such a ham with the camera that when she sees that I have set it up to video tape her she stops what she is doing and tries to roll towards it. I just got lucky with this one. Anyway, Adella is so fun these days. She is babbling ba,ba,ba,la,la,la,da,da,da and likes to put everything in her mouth. She is very interested in textures, and lights (still). She also likes to hang out under the rocking armchair . Not the safest place she could be... It is a little unnerving when you find her under there while you are sitting in the chair. No crawling yet but she will get there. She is starting to scoot backwards but usually this just makes her mad.

Our Good Buddy

I am often asked how Mason responds to Adella. Well... just like you would expect if you know Mason... he just lays there while she pulls at him. Really I think that he is hoping to get some pets out of her and any pets, even if they are slightly abusive, are better than no pets.
She is starting to take more notice of him lately. She smiles when he shakes and reaches to touch him when he is sitting close to her. She will even roll towards him when he is near her on the carpet.
I am thankful that I can leave them in the same room and I don't have to worry about him stepping on her or biting her. Every now and then he does try to roll on her in an attempt to get closer to her and therefore get more pets... but can you blame him? Soon enough she will be big enough that I won't have to worry about that either.

PS... is that not the sweetest thing you have ever seen? My little family taking a lazy Sunday nap.

Happy Easter!!

A Moment of Gratitude...
We had such a nice Easter weekend. We spent Saturday working on the house and Sunday hanging out as a family. I love not having to go anywhere or worry about the house in Scotia! We have had very few weekends in the past 5 months that we didn't have to rush to Scotia to do something for the house. I am happy to say that we no longer own the house and I don't have to worry about it anymore!!
It is nice to be settled (for the most part). It gave me some time to think about what we have been blessed with and how thankful I am for all of it. It is easy to get caught up in the stress of things or focus on the little things that aren't going my way but the truth is that I have everything I need and I am so thankful. I know that Ethan and I are truly blessed and watched over. I know that our every need will be provided.

Butternut Squash Gets Mixed Reviews

Adella isn't crazy about eating her veggies but she tolerates them ok. Sometimes I think that I eat more of her food than she does! Smashed carrots are good! (This video clip isn't awesome but I thought that the grandparents would appreciate it.)

5 Months Old!!!

I can't believe that my sweet baby is 5 months old already. Time has gone by so quickly. It really is true what they say, you have to appreciate all of the cute things that she is doing at the time because before you know it she has moved on to something new. Thankfully this is also true for the not so cute things. I don't miss the sleepless nights and I can't wait for her to stop growling. (It is alittle on the creep side.)

Making up for lost time

Hopefully this will appease the masses. Due to many demands from family members, here are some pictures we have taken in the past few months. Adella has learned some new tricks this past month including rolling over (see above). She is just as cute as ever (in my eyes) and is growing quickly.

Loving the hotel life




A Merry Merry Christmas to you and yours! Note our pitiful Christmas tree. We needed something portable so we could bring it back and forth. I even decorated our hotel room so we could enjoy the holiday season while we were away. The things I would do to keep my sanity! :)

A light at the end of the tunnel

I have been out of comunication for a few months now due to the inconviences of living in a hotel for the last 4 months. I am happy to report however that there is a light at the end of the tunnel!! We should be moving into our new house at the end of the month. YEA!!
